The Diaphragm Muscle
The diaphragm is a muscle, somewhat dome-shaped, attached to your lowest ribs all the way around the torso,
dividing your lung cavity from your abdominal cavity. It relaxes into the shape of a double dome. When it
contracts,
it flattens out, making more room for the lungs to take in air and, pushing down on the abdominal organs,
making your belly expand.
If you watch babies breathe, you will see their tummies expand as they inhale. Many adults have lost this
natural way of breathing. Put your hands on your belly and see if you can let your belly expand as you
inhale. Yoga will help you learn diaphragmatic breathing.

Please be careful. Let your body be the boss of your yoga.
A good stretch should feel good--avoid anything that causes
sharp pain. When you feel comfortable in a pose, push yourself
a bit until you feel challenged.
These lessons are free. Use them cautiously and at your own risk.
You can do these yoga/pilates poses in any order you want, or just click on the "Next" link (above) to get the recommended sequence.
